Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA)

In compliance with FERPA, the college may release information classified only as “Directory Information” to the general public without the written consent of the student. Directory Information includes:

  • Student name
  • Telephone number
  • Weight & height of athletic team members
  • Dates of attendance
  • Educational institution most recently attended and degrees & awards received
  • Student Address
  • Date and place of birth
  • Participation in official recognized activities & sports
  • Other similar information, including major field of study

If no request is filed not to release information, directory information is released upon written inquiry. No telephone requests are acknowledged; all requests must be made in person. No transcript of academic record is released without written consent from the student, except as specified by law. For more information, visit the US Dept. of Education’s website.

Important: Student information is released by the Admissions Office only (T170). Faculty is not allowed to release any information.

Please Note: As part of the annual required professional development hours, all faculty are required to take the FERPA and Keeping Safe in a Campus Emergency online training each academic year. Registration for these courses is through eConnect and the course material is available through eCampus. Keep in mind that you must first register for the course in eConnect in order to get access to the course material in eCampus.
